Friday, July 29th, 2011

It's Friday! Friday! Getting down on Friiiiiday! I have finally caught up with posting; this is the first time this week that I've actually posted on the actual day mentioned. Still no camera, since mine is still packed away in my suitcase, but I did witness lunch today.

Before we begin, why not groove to some Rebecca Black? She would probably want to hang out with Barb, if she met her. She's a way better rapper than the guy in the video, by the way.

Today's lunch was a Buffalo Chicken Pizza!
Picked by none other than mailman himself, Jay.

Due to the stomach issues from earlier in the week, this has been pushed back to today.

Rating: 4/5 Opa's. I expected the pizza to be gloppy with buffalo sauce and all smelly. It was indeed smelly, but the sauce was baked into the chicken and there were onions and all sorts of veggies.

Barb says: It was spicy and tangy! Also, Sheila mentioned that it smelled like her Grammy Krum's house. Which says something about Sheila's (sort of bizarre) memories. Oh well. That's the end of week one.

Thursday, July 28th

No lunch from George's Today!

It's Sheila's birthday! Woot, woot, party tiiiiiiime!!!

Sheila Heimbach Forth
A lovely photo of the birthday girl.
For her party, we got Gino (brand symbol) Giants!
Oh yes.

There ain't nothing like a greasy 'ol burger, except birthday pie!
To cap off the birthday celebration, there was a group serendade with a song by the band Bread. I didn't witness the song, but it was beautiful. I heard some angels cried.

Happy Birthday!

Veggie Stromboli
Chosen by: Esther

Image was found on flickr.

Rating: 4.5/5 Opa's. While Famous George is not known for his vegetarian fare, this was pretty good. I mean, I know that picture isn't technically what Barb ate, but it's looking pretty sweet.

The stromboli was piping hot (!) and full of fresh veggies and lots o' cheese. It was given the succinct description: Yum!

Overall, a very pleasing lunch. So far, this might be the most pleasing option (in my observations. It just sounds better than the equally rated ham hoagie)

July 26th, 2011 (Tuesday)

Not a hoagie today! Actually, it's a sandwich. There are other things on the menu besides sandwiches, despite the office's apparent best efforts to trick you into thinking that. I forgot to mention on the Monday post that Jay (aka mailman) had picked Barb's lunch on Friday, but due to a slightly "weird" stomach, his choice has been pushed back. Nobody would give me the full details of Barb's stomach ailments, but I doubt she really wants a detailed play by play of her gastrointestinal goings-on posted on the Internet. Such is life.

Rating: 4/5 Opa's. I'm seeing a pattern. Barb seems to just like everything. I'm hoping for like, a 1.5/5 Opa day. Not because I'm wishing bad food onto Barb, but because I just like a little variation. Well, there are still 100 menu items or so to eat, so we'll see.

According to Barb, the chicken was delicious and baked, not fried. That got an exclamation point next to it on the paper I was handed witht the review, so I guess it's a big deal. Also, there was the right amount of cheese.

Monday, July 25th

I'm back from vacation! So I'll finally (I know, it's been ages, right?) be able to tell you what the lovely Barb ate for lunch this week.

Starting off the week (Monday, July 25th) waaaaaaaaas:

The Roast Beef Hoagie

Chosen by: Oz

No actual pictures yet, sorry folks. It turns out that nobody took pictures while I was gone, and as I was in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, I couldn't get pictures either. This one looks pretty good, so let's just pretend that's what Barb actually ate.

Rating: 4/5 Opa's
Description: The roll was fresh and the meat was moist. Not too much description, but come on, it's a sandwich, there's not really too much to say. So far, the hoagies have been getting a great review, but we haven't gotten to the weird ones yet.

July 22nd.

No pictures today, so I'll just use a stock image.

Food: Ham hoagie, provolone cheese.
Picked by: Sheila.

This is from Romano's drive-in, not Famous Georges. I apologize for sticky-fingering this image, but I don't have a camera or the drive to go and find the rest of Barb's lunch.

THE RATING

4.5/5 Opa's (see, because Famous Georges is Greek. So witty! Sheila came up with that.)

-Roll was fresh and nice, there was just the right amount of oil, and it was good. That was the exact words out of the very mouth of Barb about the sandwich. I thought it looked pretty good, considering. Also, it's 102 out right now, so I imagine it was pretty refreshing. Overall, good choice. Bravo, Sheila, I look forward to the rest of this.

*I will be going on vacation (I know, be jealous) until Thursday, so Barb's next lunch update will include four lunches, and will be coming on either Thursday or Friday. It'll be a big deal, since Jay the mailman is picking Monday's lunch.

The Motley Crew.

It's a little bit silly to simply expect you to know who the characters in this twisted tale are. So here is the cast of the office; the bit players and the main characters. *Also: I thought I should mention that I make up words sometimes. This could be an issue if you didn't know it at the outset. Alright, well, here we go.*

Barb: The brave heroine, she sits in the goldfish bowl known as Customer Service. She's eating everything on the menu. Here's another picture of her, dressed as our mailman.

Emily: Really in charge, the mom of two of the coolest people I know, and a really good singer, she has the command central in the goldfish bowl. Favorite Georges item: Salad.

Sheila: Also sits in the goldfish bowl, 'Forthy' won't accept my friend request on facebook and is an all-around classy lady. Favorite Georges' item: Shrimp Basket. She's also phenomenal at sewing. She's pictured on the left. And oh, who's that in the middle? That's right: it's Barb.

Annie: The only person I call by their last name, she's the billing lady. She's a great lady, and occasionally thinks that teenagers are all no good. It was really hard for me to find a picture of her. Favorite Georges Item: Cold Roast Beef Special

Ashley: Casey Anthony's numbah one homegirl, dating White Mike and way cooler than I'll ever hope to be in my wildest 'lil dreams, Ashley is on the sales team. She's got those feather hair extensions, which are mad awesome, so I'm usually jealous of her. Favorite Georges item: The Chili.

Oz: Owner of Markley Street Pickles and Oz's Professional Carcass removal, Oz plays the bagpipes. He drives 'the cougar' and never actually eats Georges food. Because he's sort of a health food nut. Well, actually, one time, I saw him eat a sandwich from there. Favorite Georges item: Dry Turkey Club. That's not his baby, by the way.
Liz: She used to scare the crap out of me when I was little, but now she only assaults my feelings on the daily. She can flirt her way into a new iphone any day of the week. She too, chooses not to eat Georges, and is currently the copresident of the Regiment. Favorite Georges item: Allegedly the chicken burrito, but I've never seen her eat one.
Krick: Tennis master, Krick sits in the one sales desk I can't see from my seat. Oh well. She's a proponent of the sandwiches and milkshake day. Favorite Georges item: Chicken salad on a Pita. Also, she's pictured here with none other than Barb.
Kathy- With three----wait no----four kids, she's not in right now because she's on vacation. She has the desk with the footrest, and she has yet to order lunch for Barb. She's pictured with Krick. I have no idea what her Favorite Georges item is and I have no way of knowing.
Todd: The most in charge, he was on the Al Alberts showcase as a kid and now sits at command central. He writes plays (which may or may not be mentioned) and also is a pretty alright guy. He looks a little bit like Gary Busey. I could think up more interesting things to say, but he's so funny that they really wouldn't do justice. Favorite Georges item: Half a chicken.
Nick: Rap music aficionado, and desk buddy, Nick's the guy to see about the Internet. Which is good, because I have computer trouble like 90% of the time. He wasn't really eating when I last saw him, which was a while ago. He went as Christopher Reeves for Halloween and excels at offending/wheedling. Favorite Georges Item: Hmmm.....I don't think I've ever seen him eat Georges food.
Esther:  Cinnamon D, the best coffee-maker in the entire world, works at my desk. She loves Vera Bradley, and is often followed by a bevy of admirers (like Vorath, the pizza guy). She takes the lunch order almost every day, so she's probably the most involved in Barb's eating saga. She's also a champion knife thrower. Favorite Georges item: Meatballs.
Vicki: Despite the fact that she's abandoning us and probably never coming back, she's a pretty okay girl. She hates smiling and rainbows. Favorite Georges item: Grilled cheese as long as it's not grilled cheese specials day, but if it is, then chicken fingers.
Me: I do a lot of talking, so not much here. Favorite Georges item: Weaknesses (Weaknii)
Cheese: McCheese, or Cheese, sits in the far office. He shoots birds with Nerf guns, sporadically reads aloud from Blood, Money and Power and wears the eye patch. More often than not, he's not wearing shoes, and he also eats raw red onions. He shares an office with the Wizard. Favorite Georges item: Fish sandwich
The Wizard: Apparently the only one who ever does anything. He sits with Cheese, and is hardly ever here for lunch. He's a vegetarian, and one time I accidentally spilled his Margarita out of his hand at a party. Now I've got no toes, why? Because he's magic. Favorite Georges Item: Eggplant Parm (The only thing I remember him ever getting). I understand that this isn't the best picture of the Wiz, but I needed to show you that he ACTUALLY  a wizard.
.
Jay: Jay is our mailman. Despite his secret crush on Customer Service and Todd, he's usually pretty chill. He plays the bass, and doesn't eat here because he doesn't work here. Usually. He will come and stay for birthday parties. He also has received a back massage from Koz, under the guise that he actually was a masseuse. He once slept over at the office.
And the sad thing is, that this isn't even a joke. All of these people really work here. And are all actually like this. Merrrh.

The beginning

This, dear denizens, is Barb. She works with me, in the lovely little office overlooking the scenic Allstate parking lot and the adorbsable little houses that all seem to be inhabited by families with absurd numbers of dogs and children.

I had to steal this picture of Barb, I did not take it, ladies and gents. She's the lady on the right, by the way.

So, every single solitary day, our office orders food from Famous George's, which sells Greek food, pizza and the like. It's manned by a crew of lovable characters including Famous George himself, the oft-mentioned Tina and several bizarre delivery boys. They have a very wide and extensive menu.

But we get bored in our lil ole office, so Barb has bravely decided to eat one of everything on the menu. So, every day, since about two weeks ago, she plucks her copy of the menu from her desk drawer and someone else in the office picks her lunch for her.

This is the account of her food fiascoes. Lunches will be recorded, rated and reported. Who picked it will also be mentioned.

We wish Barb well. She's doing great so far, but we'll have to see if she can last. Hmmmmm.....
